Privacy Policy

The LOS Directory is a publication, not a product you sign into. There are no accounts, no logins, no paywalls, and no forms that ask for your details. You can read every platform profile, comparison, guide, and ranking on this site without telling us who you are. This page explains the small amount of data we do collect, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and how to ask us to remove it.

What we collect

We collect two things, and only two: anonymous usage analytics, and whatever you choose to put in an email to us.

  • Usage analytics. We run PostHog to understand which pages lenders actually read and where our coverage falls short. It records page views, referring URLs, the pages visited in a session, approximate location derived from your IP address (country and region, not a street), device type, browser, and screen size, plus session replays of interactions with the page. We do not ask PostHog to build identified profiles of visitors: analytics events are tied to a random identifier stored in your browser, not to a name or an email address.
  • Email you send us. The only way to contact us is hello@thelosdirectory.com. If you email a correction, a listing request, or a question, we keep that message, your address, and our reply so we can act on it and check our work later. We use it to answer you and to verify the coverage you wrote about, and for nothing else.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or third-party ad trackers on this site. We do not add you to a mailing list because you emailed us, and we do not pass your email address to the platform vendors we cover — if you contact us about a specific platform, that stays between you and our editorial team unless you ask us to make an introduction. We do not knowingly collect information from children; this site is written for people evaluating lending software at work.

Cookies and local storage

PostHog sets a first-party cookie holding a random identifier so repeat visits within a session are not counted as separate people. That identifier is not linked to your name or your employer. There are no advertising cookies on this site. Blocking cookies, using a private window, or running a tracker-blocking extension will not break anything here — every page is static HTML and reads the same either way.

Who processes data for us

  • Cloudflare serves this site and, as any host does, processes request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) to deliver pages and block abuse.
  • PostHog (US cloud region) processes the analytics described above.
  • Our email provider handles messages sent to hello@thelosdirectory.com.

Links to vendor websites, regulators, and press coverage take you to sites we do not control, each with its own privacy practices. Following one of our outbound links tells that site you arrived from The LOS Directory; it does not pass along anything else about you.

How long we keep it

Analytics events and session replays age out on our analytics provider's standard retention schedule. Email correspondence is kept as long as it is useful for maintaining and defending the accuracy of what we publish, and deleted on request unless we need it to document a correction we made.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA/CPRA in California — you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Because we hold so little, most requests are simple to honor. Email hello@thelosdirectory.com with what you would like us to do and we will respond within 30 days. We have no personal information to sell, so there is nothing to opt out of selling. You can also block analytics at the browser level at any time.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and move the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than folded silently into a longer document.
